What is eCash?
BITCOIN, UPGRADED.
ECash (ticker: ECX) is a new Bitcoin hard fork that activates Drivechains. Every Bitcoin holder receives ECX one-for-one while their original BTC stays completely untouched. The base layer remains simple and pure — all scaling, privacy, and innovation happen on specialized sidechains secured by the same miners.
eCash at a glance
Here’s the essential information about eCash (ECX) in one place:
Exchange ticker: ECX
Type: Bitcoin hard fork by Paul Sztorc / LayerTwo Labs
Allocation: 1 ECX for every 1 BTC held at the snapshot
Bitcoin impact: None — your BTC stays completely untouched
Core feature: Activates Drivechains (BIP 300/301) from day one
Consensus: SHA-256d Proof-of-Work
Official site: ecash.com
The Bitcoin base layer remains simple and pure. All scaling, privacy, and experimentation live on specialized sidechains called drivechains.

What are Drivechains?

Bitcoin’s greatest strength has become its greatest limitation. Core developers are extremely cautious about changing the protocol because any mistake could damage the monetary base. As a result, real experimentation on Bitcoin has been almost impossible.
Existing sidechain approaches like Lightning are limited and create a conflict of interest: they pull fees away from miners.
Drivechains solve these problems cleanly. They let developers launch specialized sidechains where they can freely experiment with new features; high-throughput payments, privacy, tokens, prediction markets, and more, all while three critical things remain true:
Miners still earn the fees from activity on those sidechains
The Bitcoin base layer stays simple and free of experimental technology
Users never have to leave the Bitcoin ecosystem for a completely different currency and community
Everyone stays united by the same base money. The sidechains are inter-compatible with Bitcoin through a secure two-way peg.
This is the core idea behind eCash. It is how Bitcoin can finally scale and innovate without ever changing Bitcoin itself.
What drivechains exist on eCash?
Thunder
A big-block, prunable sidechain with fraud proofs, built to handle enough throughput for 8 billion people to transact daily. No channels, no inbound liquidity, no failed routes — just Bitcoin that actually works as everyday money.
zSide
Zcash-grade zk-SNARKs on eCash, making transactions indistinguishable from one another. True fungibility, without buying a separate privacy coin to get it.
BitNames
Namecoin-style domain registration and ownership — a decentralized identity layer aimed squarely at replacing ICANN. Names nobody can revoke or seize.
BitAssets
The issuance layer for stablecoins, tokens, and tokenized assets. New assets settle here while the money underneath stays ECX
Truthcoin
Peer-to-peer prediction markets, and the idea that started it all — Paul Sztorc has gone by "Truthcoin" since long before Drivechains existed. Markets that price the future, running natively on Bitcoin's ledger.
Photon
Quantum-resistant signatures, available on day one. Insurance you can opt into on your own schedule, instead of waiting years for a contentious base-layer upgrade.
Why eCash matters
Investors
For Bitcoin holders and investors
You receive ECX one-for-one simply by holding Bitcoin in a wallet you control. No claim form. No registration. The new asset comes with real utility from day one because Drivechains make specialized sidechains possible while keeping Bitcoin itself pure and unchanged.
Builders
For builders and developers
You can finally experiment on Bitcoin without waiting for core consensus or risking the base layer. Launch your own drivechain or build applications on existing ones. Miners still get paid, users stay in the same monetary ecosystem, and the L1 remains clean.
Ecosystem
For the entire ecosystem
Bitcoin no longer has to choose between staying ossified or becoming experimental. Drivechains let both happen at the same time. One mining economy. Multiple independent execution environments. The same base currency uniting everyone.
